| May 18, 2021 | Firm News |

On the road, you face the risk of an accident for many different reasons, from drunk drivers to those who use their phones behind the wheel. However, speeding is particularly dangerous and results in the loss of many lives each year. Moreover, many victims of speeding accidents struggle with serious injuries that follow them around for the rest of their lives.

It is important to understand some of the reasons why people drive too fast as well as the consequences of this behavior.

What are the consequences of speeding?

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, drivers who speed are more likely to lose control of their vehicles and protective equipment is less effective. Moreover, when an accident occurs at high speeds, the severity of the accident is often more devastating and it can take longer for drivers to come to a stop.

During 2018, speeding played a role in 26% of all traffic deaths, claiming more than 9,300 lives.

What are some reasons for speeding?

Drivers ignore speed limits because they are running late for work or an important appointment. Other factors that cause many drivers to speed include a false sense of anonymity behind the wheel, road rage and failing to pay attention to the road due to using a phone. Sadly, this reckless behavior claims many lives each year and drivers who disregard traffic safety laws must answer for their actions.

There is no excuse for reckless behavior that endangers lives. If a speeding accident caused you or a loved one to suffer injuries, do not hesitate to explore your options.
